Introduction

Category Definitions

The announcements are divided into the following 3 categories:

• Maintenance Mode: Existing customers can continue to use the service. New customer onboarding is suspended. No new features will be developed, but bug fixes and security patches will continue to be provided.
• Sunset (Scheduled End of Service): The service end date has been finalized. Access will no longer be available after the end date.
• End of Support: The service has already been discontinued at the time of the announcement.

[Maintenance Mode] Amazon Kendra

AWS recommends migrating to Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base (BMKB).
However, at this time, according to the official documentation, there is a gap between the 32 connectors supported by Kendra and the 7 supported by BMKB (as of July 2026). For unsupported connectors, ingestion via S3 serves as an alternative.
Additionally, the following features are not yet supported in BMKB (some have workarounds):

• Incremental Learning
• Custom Document Enrichment

No migration deadline (service end date) has been set, and there is no immediate impact on existing customers.

[Maintenance Mode] Amazon Q Business

The successor service is Amazon Quick (an integrated AI assistant that extends the former QuickSight).
With the BYOI (Bring Your Own Index) feature, existing Q Business indexes can be connected directly to Quick.
On the other hand, Q Apps require manual migration to Quick Flows, and Guardrails and Actions are not carried over via BYOI, so they need to be reconfigured natively in Quick.

[Maintenance Mode] Amazon Bedrock Agents Classic

Amazon Bedrock Agents has been renamed to "Amazon Bedrock Agents Classic" and transitioned to maintenance mode.
There are no API namespace changes, and existing agents can continue to be used as-is.

However, no new models will be added to Agents Classic going forward.
AWS recommends migrating to AgentCore harness (declarative) or Code-defined agents (any framework).

[Maintenance Mode] AWS Directory Service – Simple AD

This is a Samba-based simplified Active Directory. There is no impact on existing directories or users, and existing customers can still create new directories.

As alternatives, AWS Managed Microsoft AD (for cases requiring a full AD environment) or AD Connector (proxy-based connection to your own AD) are recommended.
In environments integrated with WorkSpaces and similar services, changes to the directory service may have downstream effects on other services, so migration planning requires careful consideration.

[Sunset] Amazon WorkSpaces – PCoIP

This is due to the end of vendor support for HP Anyware (PCoIP).

The migration target is the DCV protocol, and according to the official documentation, there is no additional charge for the protocol migration itself.
The migration path varies depending on the OS version.

• Current OS version → Modify Protocol (approximately 40 minutes to complete, according to official documentation)
• Older OS version → Migrate WorkSpace (change OS and protocol simultaneously)

Note that PCoIP Zero Client devices are not compatible with DCV, so hardware updates will be required.

[Sunset] Amazon WorkSpaces – Pool

The migration target is WorkSpaces Applications (formerly AppStream 2.0), and existing images can be imported into WorkSpaces Applications.

[Sunset] AWS Managed Services (AMS) Advanced

Alternatives include AMS Accelerate, AWS Support Unified Operations, partner solutions, and self-managed options.
No migration of the workloads themselves is required; only the management layer needs to be migrated. The primary task is redesigning RFC/change management workflows to native AWS tools.

[Sunset] AWS re:Post Private

Stack Overflow for Teams (Stack Internal) is the closest alternative.
Data export is available via TAM to S3 in CSV/JSON format, but according to the official documentation, the final deadline for export requests is June 15, 2027. Data must be exported before the service ends.
