I attended a Claude Community event in Singapore

On July 14, 2026, I attended the "Singapore Claude Meetup #8" held in Singapore. The event sold out within just 24 hours of registration opening, and approximately 130 people gathered at the venue on the day. The event was hosted by Max Del Vita (Claude Ambassador), who leads the Claude community in Singapore, and co-hosted by Patrick Han (Claude Community Korea, Claude Bloom).

This session centered on the theme of transitioning from "Claude Blue" to "Claude Bloom" as proposed by Patrick Han, with discussions held around "our mindset as we work alongside AI." Here is a report on what took place.

Talking Together About the "Emotional Turbulence" AI Brings

During the introduction portion, each participant had the opportunity to openly share not only how they use AI in their business and daily life, but also their current feelings toward AI — whether excitement, anxiety, or both.

One speaker mentioned that they have entrusted a self-built agent with everything from work tasks to personal task management and travel arrangements, constructing a "second brain" to help them quickly adapt to a new workplace. They shared that even a three-person startup team has achieved productivity comparable to a team of 10 to 15 people by making full use of AI.

At the same time, a notable feature of this event was the candid discussion about the emotional side of things — including the pressure to become more efficient, a sense of fatigue toward technology, and anxiety about being left behind. Survey data was also introduced showing that, behind AI-driven productivity gains, the rate of burnout among tech workers has risen from 45% to 56%, and there was a moment where the atmosphere in the room became noticeably more somber.

The episode shared by Junho (from Korean company Cliwant) was also memorable. His 10-year-old son used Claude to develop several games within a few hours, even building a 3D shooting game in Unity 3D. While AI dramatically lowers development costs, it does not yet possess the ability to understand user pain points. For that very reason, opinions were raised that human empathy and the ability to gather feedback will become key differentiators going forward.

There was also discussion about how AI is lowering the barriers for non-technical people to transition into technical roles. One speaker shared how AI had accelerated their own shift from fintech operations to AI architect, and given that the Singapore government is actively supporting workforce retraining, many attendees appeared to have a strong interest in redesigning their careers.

Project Presentations

During the demo session in the latter half of the event, unique projects by community members were introduced.

• An invitation-only social media platform focused on eliminating ads and prioritizing connections with trusted friends
• A web app that lets users select fragrance notes to design their own original perfume
• The "Pendulum Type" project, which generates typography from the chaotic motion of a double pendulum
• A video creation tool to assist with meditation experiences

Each demo embodied the idea that "with AI, if you have an idea, even an individual can build something like this."

Summary

According to Max, the Singapore community plans to continue holding meetups every two to three weeks going forward. Patrick Han also mentioned that he is considering expanding beyond Korea to cities like Tokyo and New York, and that he intends to continue exploring this as a first experimental step.

I attended this Singapore community event through an introduction from Classmethod Korea, but since attending regularly from Malaysia is difficult, I am thinking of finding a community doing similar activities in Malaysia and joining together with engineers from Classmethod Malaysia.
