Scrum Fest Sendai 2026
Scrum Fest is a celebration of the agile community held in various locations across Japan. The event brings together a wide range of participants, from beginners to experts who love agile and scrum, where they can learn interactively. Not only can participants share their knowledge and passion for agile and scrum, but they can also consult about their concerns and challenges.
Scrum Fest Sendai is the Sendai edition, and this year marks its 5th year (5th time) being held. I participated as an attendee at the 1st event, and as a staff member at the other four. Classmethod has served as a Gold Sponsor for 3 consecutive years starting from the 3rd event, supporting the holding of Scrum Fest Sendai.

Day1
Yoshito Kuranuki, President and CEO of Sonic Garden Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled 'The Art of Work in the AI Era ~ Recommendation for Craftsman-like Mastery of "Working as if Playing" in Software Development'. The talk was packed with Kuranuki's thoughts on how engineers should be in the AI era, how to engage with clients, and what is being done for the future, and I felt a great deal of resonance.
The phrase that particularly stuck with me was "working as if playing." The person themselves is working incredibly hard, yet to those around them, it looks fun, as if they're playing. I too want to work exactly like that. Additionally, the idea that the "person-month" unit pricing business style stops people from working efficiently led to the establishment of "contract development without delivery," a style with no time management that involves walking alongside and growing together with contracted companies — this resonated deeply with the "co-creative development" I want to pursue, and was very insightful. The introduction of the 'apprenticeship system' and 'techne' was also very memorable, making it an incredibly rich keynote. The upcoming publication "The Art of Work" was also introduced. I can't wait for it to be published.
Keynote scene

In the opening talk, we introduced new staff member Kappy and Sharkle-kun's friend Shake-na Baby-kun.

On Day 1, we held a networking party. There were many interactions filled with smiles.

This year too, staff member Ringo drew portraits of all the participants^^

Day2
This year we prepared two speaker tracks, one workshop venue, one OST venue, and a coaches clinic.
Until last year, one of the speaker tracks was online, but we switched to an offline format where speakers and attendees can directly see each other's expressions and experience the emotional aspects firsthand. We also moved the OST venue to a large space on the first floor, and held the coaches clinic on the second floor in a spacious and relaxed atmosphere. After the event, we received feedback that the venue atmosphere was better than the previous year, which made us appreciate once again the importance of creating the right space.
This year, I was in charge of the OST venue. For first-time participants, I explained how OST works using this material. During the sessions, everyone was engaged in passionate discussions.

Below are some of the opinions and ideas that emerged from each session.

In my personal impression, I think the discussion about contributing to the Tohoku region was particularly lively. I think one of the great things about Scrum Fest is that you can talk about scrum and also talk about other things!
Thank you for participating
This year, Kuranyaan came and helped liven up the venue while also promoting Classmethod.

This year too, there was a great deal of learning and interaction. Please join us again next year!!
Classmethod is looking for people who work seriously while valuing agile, scrum development, and their team members. If you are interested, please visit and apply through the recruitment site below^^
