[AWS Technical Support Note] สาเหตุที่ Pending Maintenance Actions ของ Amazon RDS หายไป

ปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้น

ได้ทำการจัดการเวลา(Schedule) การ Update Engine ของ RDS ด้วยตนเอง และตรวจสอบแล้วว่ารายการดังกล่าวอยู่ใน Pending Maintenance เรียบร้อยแล้ว อย่างไรก็ตาม หลังจาก Maintenance Window ผ่านไป Update ที่จัดการไว้ไม่ถูก Apply และ Pending Maintenance Action ได้หายไปจาก Pending Maintenance

อยากทราบสาเหตุที่ทำให้ Pending Maintenance Action ไม่ถูก Apply

วิธีแก้ปัญหา

ตรวจสอบ Event ว่ามีการ Stop DB Instance เกิดขึ้นในช่วง Maintenance Window หรือไม่ เนื่องจากการ Stop DB Instance จะทำให้ Pending Action บางรายการถูกลบออก

Stopping an Amazon RDS DB instance temporarily (English)

RDS removes pending actions, including scheduled maintenance updates, except for pending actions for the option group or DB parameter group of the DB instance.

RDS จะลบ Pending Action ทั้งหมดออก รวมถึง Scheduled Maintenance Update ด้วย ยกเว้น Pending Action ที่เกี่ยวกับ Option Group หรือ DB Parameter Group ของ DB Instance

สามารถตรวจสอบ Event ของ Amazon RDS Resource ได้ผ่าน Management Console หรือ AWS CLI

Viewing Amazon RDS events (English)

You can access events in the following parts of the AWS Management Console:
・The Events tab, which shows events from the past 24 hours.
・The Recent events table in the Logs & events section in the Databases tab, which can show events for up to the past 2 weeks.
You can also retrieve events by using the describe-events AWS CLI command, or the DescribeEvents RDS API operation. If you use the AWS CLI or the RDS API to view events, you can retrieve events for up to the past 14 days.

สามารถเข้าถึง Event ได้จากส่วนต่างๆ ใน AWS Management Console ดังนี้
・แท็บ Events ซึ่งแสดง Event ย้อนหลัง 24 ชั่วโมง
・ตาราง Recent Events ในส่วน Logs & Events ภายในแท็บ Databases ซึ่งสามารถแสดง Event ย้อนหลังได้สูงสุด 2 สัปดาห์
นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถดึงข้อมูล Event โดยใช้คำสั่ง AWS CLI describe-events หรือ RDS API Operation DescribeEvents ได้ด้วย โดย AWS CLI และ RDS API สามารถดึงข้อมูล Event ย้อนหลังได้สูงสุด 14 วัน
